I’m starting this blog because, if possible, I want to be a tiny part of the ongoing dialogue about fashion and style. And if I have a bone to pick, its that it seems silly to me that people are encouraged to appreciate aesthetics in nearly every area of life except clothing. We can love beautiful architecture, stunning landscapes, and sleek cars, as long as we content ourselves to walk around as drab little islands of frumpy boringness amongst all that beauty. It just seems misguided. Fashion has been a part of society ever since early humans began to decorate themselves with body paint and tattoos. What we wear can help us connect to the past, to others, and to ourselves. It can bring about political and social change, and it can be a way that we show ourselves care and respect. What’s so bad about that?
